Mr. and Mrs. Rust.
Our kind new friends, the Rust family, invited us to swing by their home on the way through Utah. What a delight to visit more with this family who is in the next season of life. "Nana" and "Papa" Rust were able to give some good perspectives to us on the years ahead. What a refreshing visit in the Lord. Certainly far too short in our estimation. But, the road stretched ever and on to California.
Skies of blue.
And cliffs of brown.
The mountains surrounding Salt Lake City.

The Rusts do all the beautiful gardening in their yard.
The men chatting.
The young men playing.
Getting a tour of the gardens at dusk.
Mr. Rust was excited to show us a project that he and his sons have been working on. Quite fascinating--check out Big Canyon.

hLRebecca,
Hello! Since everyone seems to be commenting on your hair lately, I thought I'd add, that your hair (the bun) August 15 was very sweet and
feminine looking. :-) That's something I've been striving to lean torward more. :-) And, in Feburary the way you twisted it was beautiful!
How did you do that?! It looks hard!
Love--
SarahLee
My goodness. : ) How sweet of you all.
Buns are extremely easy. Merely, gather your hair back like you would do a pony, except don't put a pony tale holder in. Start twisting it into a circle, and then while holding that with one hand, stick a bobby pin in. Continue twisting and working around the "circle" of hair until you tuck the end in.
I usually poof out the front and sides a little too, since I have a narrower face. But others don't need that step. Then I spray with hairspray, and voila! You have a bun!
Hmm. February's hairstyle. I don't exactly recall that one. Which post was it on?
Resting in His joy,
Rebecca
I agree with Sarah Lee. Your hair and all of you Serven Ladies' hair is beautiful!!!
Blessings,
Johanna Kautt
Thanks for the instructions on the bun. They are so simple...and comfortable. The other hairstyle I mentioned was when you recorded the 2 CDs in Feb. It was very nice! (All yours are! :0)
By the way, the "guessing for the culprit" was a neat idea! Do that again! :-)

Dear Johanna and SarahLee,
Thank you for your kind compliments. : ) Keep in mind, dear girls, that it is true--while man looks on the outward appearance, the Lord looks on the heart.
You know your heart; are you seeking to be modest and feminine? Praise God! This is a glorious thing to embrace God's design as a woman.
On the other hand, are you focusing on the outward at the neglect of the hidden man of the heart? A meek and quiet spirit is acceptable in the sight of God.
We shouldn't let our beauty be based in outward adornment, as in the braiding of hair, the beautiful garments we wear, or of our outward appearance. Rather, let it be based on our relationship with the Lord: the joy we have in our heart because of His work in our lives.
I was talking to a pastor and friend recently, and he remarked how, "A happy woman is an attractive woman". How true.
The Lord has been teaching me lots about joy over these past several months. I want to keep growing in this area--and there are so many other things that I pray the Lord will continue to grow in my life!
Dearest girls, pray the Lord helps you to reflect a picture of beautiful womanhood; from the inside and out. : )
And now, for the instructions on how I did my hair in February . . . again, its a simple style. I curl the ends of my hair, but you don't have to do that.
Make a pony tail and put the rubber band in to hold it. Using your fingers, divide the hair above the ponytail/rubber band and keep it open while holding the ponytail up and stuffing it through the opening.
You'll then need to pull it down from the underneath side and probably brush out the ends to get them situated right. I also will poof out the sides a little, as I do with a bun. This is a very quick and simple hairstyle and great for working.
May the Lord continue to work in your hearts as you pursue His definition of beauty!
Resting in His joy,
Rebecca
Rast ich, so rost ich.
Thank you for the wonderful thoughts. I will keep in mind that the inward beauty is much more important! I appreciate you sharing wisdom.
Srl,
: ) Translation for the curious: "If I rest, I rust". An old german proverb.
Dear SarahLee,
Thank you for your kind note, and questions. : )
Resting in His joy,
Rebecca
Dear Rebecca,
I'm very to you, for sharing you wisdom from what you've learned from the Bible. I totaly agree on what you said and what Sarah Lee said. But, sometimes it gets really hard. That's when we need to turn to God in prayer for help!
I'm so thankful there are other young ladies that think somewhat like I do!!! ;)
God bless you, Rebecca.
Johanna Kautt
Dear Johanna,
Thank you for your sweet note. As we seek the Lord, He is faithful to work in our lives! Keep reading His word and praying to Him, and He will grow you to be a godly woman.
Resting in His joy,
Rebecca
