Cutting out the smock.
As this is our last week available to complete costumes for the Reformation 500, fingers are flying round this Missouri house. Here are a few pictures from the latest sewing projects.

Hooray! My trusty sewing machine, which had a melt down pre-wedding, is back up and working!!! : )

Pressing bias tape--this was a new nifty way to keep it the correct width and much easier!!

Eight yards for the skirt with 3 lines of hand basting round the top to make the cartridge pleats.

Sarah gets in on the act: adjusting a hoop skirt to proper 'farthingale' dimensions. Notice the creative use of a lamp. : )

A loving brother marks his sisters hem. On his birthday, none the less!

Hmmmm... It seems like I've had to cut out some things on the floor, for lack of table space! :-)
Rebecca,
It looks wonderful! You're doing a excellent job.
I also thought it was funny and cute that y'all used the lamp to sport the hoops on!
Benjamin,
Happy 18th Birthday, on day late!

What a wonderful project! This hard-to-impress grandmother is properly impressed! I like the bias tape hint, too. And bless that faithful brother and creative sister!
Looking forward to seeing this costume in Boston!

What a busy family you are trying to get ready for the big event. Please be sure to show us a picture of the final product - if you have time. Happy sewing.

My family and I are preparing for Boston also. I am almost done with my costume. My mom and I went to the Hope's the other day to sew, but we ended up at the beach :P We were getting a little frustrated with pattern pieces and we needed a break :)
After seeing Bonnie's comment, my mom contacted her to see what train they are taking because we are also taking a train to Boston from Florida! Turns out, we're on the same train, in the same car!
We look forward to seeing you all in Boston, and seeing your costume in person!
